Pierce Bennett trotting after his HR:
Back on March 26th, the Deacs looked for their third consecutive victory over the Miami Hurricanes. Miami came into the series ranked 17th, but that didn't stop Wake Forest. They downed the Hurricanes 11-0 in the first game and 4-1 in the second game. Down 1-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Tommy Hawke reached on a single and Justin Johnson reached on a hit by pitch. With two outs in the inning, Pierce Bennett came to the plate. He hammered a ball right down the line for a go-ahead 3-run home run. Even better was the fact that it was a one-handed swing! I was in attendance for this game, and boy was it an exciting moment. There was a aspect of revenge in this home run trot as well, as Pierce seemed to signal to one of the two dugouts, almost as if he was saying "I can't hear you." Some viewers watching behind Miami's dugout said they had been talking trash to Bennett earlier in the game for allegedly being slow.
Wake went on to win the game 4-1 in a game that ended after eight innings due to Miami having to catch a flight.
